In a typical food industry application implemented by a multi-national chain of bakeries, Visidot is deployed to provide complete traceability of tens of thousands of bread boxes delivered daily from multiple depots to hundreds of customers. Products or containers tagged with industry-standard barcode (1D) or Data Matrix (2D) labels, or with ImageID proprietary ColorCode tags are stacked on pallets and loaded on the bakery chain's fleet of delivery trucks.
Deployment of Visidot throughout warehouses, depots and, optionally, at the chain's retail customers' facilities, and tight integration with handheld barcode readers and back-end ERP systems enable the bakery chain to achieve complete traceability. Local Visidot SCT servers also communicate tag information captured from all incoming and outgoing bread box pallets to the bakery chain?s headquarter Visidot SCT servers. The Visidot SCT Central software application running on these servers can then generate a comprehensive, birds' eye view of the entire supply chain, and enables implementation of a wide range of custom applications, including proof of shipping and proof of product condition image banks. Real-time, user privilege-dependent access to traceability records is provided through any Web-connected station residing either within or outside the chain's corporate network.
